Best of 2012
A day late and a doller short, as they say. A few days after the start of the new year, I am releasing my top 10 of 2012 into the world.
I will preface the list with this: 2012 was an EXCELLENT year for music. Not only for the overall quality, but for the vast amounts of new groups rising up into the public consciousness through the web to make serious waves and put the industry on notice. Music is becoming music again, not just a commodity to be evaluated like a stock. Artists are blowing up overnight – some warranted, some not – and the playing field is becoming more even everyday between independents and major labels – special shout out to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis!
I paid for more digital music this year than ever before (I always buy vinyl, used and new) mainly because it was worth my money. I want to support these artists and make sure that the music I play and enjoy – whether in the club or at home – continues to thrive. I highly recommend you do the same in 2013.
Enjoy and let me know what you think, or if I missed something, in the comments!
